The Good Sounds team just completed an installation at a beautiful new custom home overlooking Newport Harbor. This project is a great example of the type of complete home automation that is possible with a Savant Home Automation System, so we wanted to highlight some of the smart home features we were able to add to this Newport Beach residence.
The owners of this two-story home wanted a system that could be easily controlled from an iPad or iPhone. Good Sounds was able to provide a system that automates many of the Orange County home’s functions, including audio, video, security, lighting, and more.
Audio Video Control
On the lower level of this Orange County home, we did a home theater installation that included a SIM2 HD video projector, a Stewart screen, and a surround speaker system by Triad Speakers. We also set up five zones of distributed HD HDMI video. Savant’s intuitive hand-held remote controls are used for all TV/video zones.
For audio throughout the home, we set up 12 zones of distributed audio, including one in the home’s entry courtyard, as well as in a patio that overlooks the bay. For the high quality sound system used for music playback, we mated in-ceiling Sonance speakers with Triad subwoofers.
Security Systems
Home security was important to these homeowners, as it is to many homeowners in Orange County. At this location, Good Sounds set up a high-definition IP security camera system that covers the full perimeter of the property. The video can be accessed from the homeowner’s iPad, iPhone, or displayed on any of the home’s televisions via the Savant distributed video system. Remote access to security video is also available so these homeowners can keep tabs on the activity at their home even when they are away.
In addition, Good Sounds installed the communication and door release systems for the property’s entry portico, front door, and side pedestrian gates. The system is easy to operate, while giving the homeowners the security they desired.
Other Home Systems Controlled by Savant Systems Home Automation
The Vantage lighting system installed in the home is another system that can be controlled from an iPad or iPhone in this Orange County home. At the touch of a button, they can turn on all lights in a room or throughout the home, or set the perfect mood by dimming or raising the lights.
The home’s motorized shades can also be raised and lowered with the touch of a button on an iPad or iPhone, making it possible for the homeowners to control them even if they are in another room, or another country, for that matter.
Finally, the home’s water features—one in the entry courtyard and one on the patio—are controlled by the Savant home automation system via the homeowner’s iPad or iPhone.
